User Persona
Why Justin is using U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY’s site.
Justin has just received his citizenship and is officially a citizen of the United States of America. He is looking to check into his naturalization status so that he may travel abroad. With that, he is starting the process of getting a passport and wants to find information on how to get a passport and begin applying for one. He is hoping to make short work of it so he can travel with his wife for his anniversary in a few months.

AB Testing
MOBILE
AB tests were conducted with 6 users to see what navigation style made the most sense to them.
The results were the following:
- ⅔ of the users tested liked the Usability of B
- ⅓ Liked the usability of B but the look of A and when asked why said, “It just feels more governmental”
- For the purposes of the case study The feedback lead me to prototype B
DESKTOP
The redesign for the homepage came down to a few key elements with the goal of improving the UI:
- The menu at the top can be bigger with a more clear bold color/texture
- Hierarchy and words are unclear
- Make the most used options as cards and more accessible
The results were the following:
- ¾ of the users tested liked the Usability of B
- ½ Liked the usability of B better but liked the social media in the top as well as the bottom
- For the purposes of the case study The feedback lead me to prototype B
